Here is my 2 cents.
There is a performance lag in the Hybrid HTML5 Cordova apps when compared to native applications. Typical performance issues are like no smooth scrolling, and inadequate frame rates. Hence if the app is complex, and need a good performance creating native app is the option.
I have noticed that the performance issue is more in Android when compared to iOS. Crosswalk is a solution here to improve the performance in android to some extend in Hybrid Cordova apps.
